Didier Drogba and David Luiz could both miss the second-leg of Chelsea’s Champions League quarter-final with Benfica on Wednesday through injury, says the report from Bridge.
The reports add that Drogba suffered a toe injury in training on Friday, while Luiz was substituted at half-time during Chelsea’s Premier League win over Aston Villa on Saturday. The centre-back was taken off after injuring his ankle ligaments. Gary Cahill was introduced in place of Luiz.
Luiz started the first-leg against his former side, won 1-0 by Chelsea through a Salomon Kalou goal, partnering John Terry in the centre of Chelsea’s defence. Drogba was an unused substitute as Roberto Di Matteo selected Fernando Torres as Chelsea’s lone striker instead. Torres was phenomenal in the winning goal, setting up Kalou after being played in by the Brazilian Ramires.
Drogba has made 25 appearances for Chelsea this season, scoring nine goals, with four of them coming in Champions League.
