For long, the talk has been when the next installment of the most popular and much awaited and anticipated role-playing franchise Diablo would release. Well, the answer is here! Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed the release date for Diablo III today as May 15!
The last installment of the game Diablo II: Lord of Destruction was released in the year 2001! Its been more than a decade for this game to develop and the revelation of the various features that make up the game proves that its worth that long.
Diablo III can be bought from May 15 onwards in retail shops in many European and American countries including Australia and New Zealand in their own localized languages. Blizzard has been very much criticized for the delay in the release of Diablo III and for the hype. Well, they finally spelled it out.
The game will be released without the popular Multiplayer(whether this would mean a not-so-grand opening? we have to wait and see). The Multiplayer will be available through digital download few weeks after the release. The game will have a price tag of $60 for PC and MAC. There is also a Collector's Edition which will include the game's art-book, the game OST and 'behind the scenes' videos of the game. One of the amazing inclusions in the Collector's Edition is the 4GB pen drive which houses Diablo I and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction as well as in-game content for Diablo III, World of Warcraft and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty.
And there is more! The World of Warcraft gamers who sign up for the "annual pass" before May 1 will get a free copy of Diablo III! Blizzard feels that the marketing of Diablo III will be "a new way for the company to pull up revenues from the game it develops"
For now, enjoy the game's preview!
